Role: Technical Advisor – Operations & Maintenance
Location: Dulles, VA (Onsite)
Salary: $95,000–$103,000 + 5% STIP bonus
Work Type: Full-time, Monday–Friday (occasional third-shift as needed)

Position Overview
This role provides hands-on technical leadership within an airport Automated People Mover (APM) environment. You’ll serve as a go-to technical expert for operations and maintenance, supporting both active sites and new projects. The position blends troubleshooting, documentation, training, and oversight of maintenance activities, with opportunities to lead teams and improve system reliability in a complex, safety-critical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight for APM systems and subsystems across operational sites and new projects
- Lead failure analysis, identify trends, and develop corrective action and recovery plans
- Coordinate technical issues requiring drawing or documentation updates to ensure consistency
- Serve as a technical liaison with domestic and international engineering partners
- Support development of project proposals, schedules, O&M plans, and related documentation
- Maintain and update O&M manuals, SOPs, and technical documentation
- Develop, deliver, and manage technical training programs for maintenance staff
- Oversee heavy maintenance work quality, schedules, and budgets
- Manage spare parts and consumables availability and procurement
- Assist with annual budgeting for parts, consumables, and maintenance resources
- Oversee maintenance of IT equipment supporting operations
Additional Duties
- Participate in meetings, task forces, and special projects
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaboration
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position includes direct supervisory responsibilities
Tools & Equipment
- Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS)
- Computers, peripherals, and standard/customized software tools
Qualifications
- Experience in APM, transit, rail, or automated transportation systems strongly preferred
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and work with electromechanical systems
- Project management and/or quality control experience required
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance
- Ability to pass a post-offer background check
- Fluency in English required; Japanese language skills preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (or equivalent experience)
Physical & Work Environment
- Regular hands-on activity including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance)
- Exposure to mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and varying environmental conditions
- Moderate noise environment
