Job Title: Safety Assistant & Translator
Department: Administration
Reports To: Administrative Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Responsible for administrative safety support at site-level assigned; and utilizing verbal and written communication using translation and interpreting from Japanese to English and English to Japanese.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Facilitate new hire safety training, recordkeeping and documentation
Participate in safety 5S initiatives and communicate activities for improvement
Perform a variety of administrative tasks including scheduling, document preparation, disseminating, and recording
Provide safety support to facility personnel
Interpret oral communication between Japanese speaking and English-speaking employees
Translate a variety of written and oral technical correspondence, safety materials, and instructions
Maintain confidentiality when translating employee counseling and performance, conduct, or safety incidents
Assist in maintaining and promoting 5S workplace organization standards
Assist inpatriate employees by translating various forms of personnel correspondence related to housing, local legal requirements for continued employment, and periodically assist offsite for translation as needed
Effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders using multiple tools to ensure effective visual communication Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D.; and,
One (1) year of Japanese to English translation and interpretation; and,
One (1) year of English to Japanese translation and interpretation; and,
Knowledge of:
Business-level Japanese and English vocabulary and meaning
American and Japanese cultures and business acumen
