Japanese organization that promotes Japanese business success in the US seeks a Project Assistant in Midtown, Manhattan.

Title: Project Assistant

Employment Type: Temp; renew the contract annually for up to 3 years

Hourly Rate: $24.5

Work Location: Midtown, Manhattan *3 days office

Work Hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday

Job Responsibilities

Tasks related to international business collaboration (collecting and providing information for Japanese companies seeking partnerships with U.S. companies, carrying out matching events, webinars, etc.). Specific duties include:

  1. Research and information-gathering tasks (collecting and organizing data and English-language information from the web and databases).
  2. Support tasks involving communication and coordination inside and outside the organization, including with outsourced research vendors (reviewing and checking documents and deliverables).
  3. Communicating with industry associations and support organizations via email/phone and providing information.
  4. Tasks related to conducting hearings and interviews with Japan–U.S. stakeholders (pre- and post-interview coordination, attending interviews, preparing meeting notes and minutes).
  5. Support tasks for events and business-matching activities (preparing internal procedure documents, assisting with planning, attending company meetings, supporting participants, etc.).
  6. Compiling information and preparing documents for business reports and other reports.
  7. General administrative and accounting tasks (reception, preparing travel documents, handling outsourcing/procurement procedures, etc.).

Requirements

  1. Ability to write, read, participate in meetings, conduct interviews, and handle phone calls in both Japanese and English.
  2. Experience with Office365 applications (such as OneNote, Planner, Lists), and ability to perform calculations and create graphs in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  3. Willingness to handle detailed tasks such as data collection and client communication.
  4. Willingness to perform tasks requiring accuracy, such as compiling reports.
  5. Ability to handle a wide range of administrative tasks.
  6. Possible domestic business travel within the U.S. (negotiable).
  7. Strong interest in innovation is preferred (a science/engineering background is not required).
