A global Japanese automotive OEM manufacturer is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist.

Position title: Procurement Coordinator / Specialist (Full-time)

Location:  Lemont, IL

Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day procurement operations, ensuring timely sourcing of quality goods and services at competitive prices to meet the company’s production needs. Oversees raw material and packaging material inventory and maintains effective relationships with vendors and suppliers to support smooth supply chain operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Report to the Procurement Manager and supervise the Procurement Associate.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors to achieve cost savings and meet budget goals.
  • Forecast short- and long-term material demands based on customer forecasts, production schedules, and market trends.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new suppliers in terms of price, quality, and reliability.
  • Create departmental procedures and provide training to procurement team members.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships and ensure supplier compliance with performance, certification, and financial standards.
  • Manage daily purchasing operations, including running purchase reports and creating purchase orders for raw and packaging materials.
  • Coordinate with Production to plan and execute raw material orders according to production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels continuously to prevent shortages and adjust deliveries as needed.
  • Follow up with suppliers on orders, confirm delivery dates, and process incoming goods for inspection.
  • Verify and process invoices, enter data into ERP systems, and coordinate with Accounting for payment.
  • Prepare pricing forms for management approval and support monthly/year-end inventory reconciliation.
  • Participate in supplier audits and assist in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities.
  • Maintain and update supplier information databases.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics, or Accounting preferred (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft D365 or similar.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing and sourcing strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with great attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with effective time management and goal-oriented mindset.
