Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of surface mount technology (SMT) automation equipment. This role is essential to ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality technical service and effective communication between customers and internal engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation, configuration, and commissioning of SMT automation systems
  • Execute equipment retrofits, upgrades, and custom modifications
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related issues on-site and remotely
  • Provide timely technical support to minimize equipment downtime
  • Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer personnel
  • Advise customers on best practices for process optimization, preventive maintenance, and system efficiency
  • Collect and analyze technical data to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement
  • Prepare detailed service reports and technical documentation
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field preferred)
  • Experience with SMT automation equipment strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and mechatronic diagrams
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based operating systems, software installation, and system configuration
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to perform hands-on equipment service at customer sites
