An international manufacturer is seeking a senior executive to lead its North America operations across the United States and Mexico.

This high-impact leadership role carries full responsibility for business performance, operational excellence, and long-term growth. You will lead cross-functional teams, partner closely with global executive leadership, and drive strong financial and operational results in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

This role is structured as a succession position, with a clear path to President / CEO within 1–1.5 years, based on performance and readiness. The successful candidate will join initially as an EVP, VP, or General Manager and progressively assume full leadership responsibility for the region.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong business acumen and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, multicultural organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

U.S. Plant Operations

  • Support and oversee the Sales VP and Manufacturing VP as needed
  • Issue overseas sourcing directives to support production leveling at the U.S. plant
  • Establish monthly bonus targets and calculate bonus payouts
  • Support the resolution of delivery delays and quality claims when required

Mexico Plant Operations

  • Support the Mexico Plant Manager and General Manager
  • Accompany and support executive-level customers during Mexico plant visits

Responsibilities Across Both Plants

  • Determine and approve sales pricing
  • Review financial statements and product- and customer-level cost data to set management direction
  • Direct material sourcing decisions, including supplier selection, pricing negotiations, and inventory targets
  • Approve purchase orders and purchased-item price increases
  • Provide executive-level customer relations support, including business meals and golf engagements

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred)
  • Native-level Japanese language proficiency required
  • Senior leadership experience (Plant Manager, General Manager, or above) required; experience in steel or metal products manufacturing is highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with cost estimation, quotations, and manufacturing financial statements
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and business growth
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies strongly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
