Our client, a software technology company based in Irvine, CA, is seeking a skilled Software Project Manager to support their continued innovation and development. As an agency recruiter, we are assisting our client with this hire; you will be directly employed by our client, not by us.

In this role, you will lead software projects across multidisciplinary teams, building, executing, and managing detailed work plans. You will translate customer needs into clear project requirements, drive execution, and keep leadership informed to ensure transparency, strategic alignment, and steady progress toward ambitious innovation goals.

Location: Irvine, CA 92618 | In-Office (relocation required prior to start)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of software engineering/development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Project management experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies, including:
    • Risk management
    • Problem-solving
    • Prioritization
    • Resource allocation
  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and a collaborative team approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentation abilities
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday–Friday, in a professional office environment
  • Ability to travel locally during the business day, with some out-of-area and overnight travel as needed
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as job duties require

Preferred Qualifications / Nice to Have:

  • Experience with safety-critical and embedded software development
  • Software acceleration experience (e.g., multi-core programming, SIMD, CUDA implementation)
  • Japanese language ability

Responsibilities

  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in overall project management, including:
    • Prioritization
    • Planning
    • Progress tracking
    • Risk mitigation
  • Identify customer needs and translate them into clear project requirements, objectives, and deliverables
  • Establish and maintain project scope; define quality and performance standards and perform risk assessment throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assign and monitor resources to maximize project efficiency and ensure on-time completion
  • Manage, motivate, and evaluate software engineers within assigned projects
    • Set individual goals
    • Support professional development
    • Participate in hiring and training
  • Communicate project outcomes and/or risks to appropriate management channels and key stakeholders
  • Escalate issues when necessary to maintain schedule, quality, and alignment with strategic goals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution and integration of project deliverables
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
