Chemical Technical Sales Engineer

A leading Japanese manufacturer is seeking a Chemical Technical Sales Engineer to join our expanding U.S. team. This position is perfect for a technically adept, customer-focused engineering professional with experience supporting automotive clients and a background in chemistry, chemical engineering, plastics engineering, or other related chemical fields.
As a key technical liaison between U.S. customers, suppliers, and our headquarters in Japan, you will provide engineering support, solve manufacturing challenges, and help expand market opportunities for our advanced decorative films, plastics, and resin products.
- Serve as the technical interface between customers, suppliers, and Japan HQ—delivering solutions to prevent or resolve manufacturing issues.
- Review and improve processing conditions for decorative film and plastic resin products by regularly assessing performance and quality with customers.
- Introduce manufacturing processes, equipment, and tools to new customers and provide technical consultations as needed.
- Develop marketing and growth strategies by engaging with customers, suppliers, and industry partners to understand trends and market needs.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges through timely onsite visits to manufacturing facilities.
- Partner with Sales to visit customer design studios and support new product opportunities.
- Promote additional company products within the automotive industry beyond the decorative film line.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related chemical discipline (required).
- 5+ years of experience in chemical engineering, technical sales, or automotive-related sales roles.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and customer-engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation and also collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle for business travel.
- Japanese language skills or familiarity with Japanese business culture is a significant plus.
