Pastry Chef – Full-Time | Brooklyn, NY

Salary: $65,000–$95,000/year, based on experience

*Junior: $65K–$75K/Mid-Level: $75K–$85K/Lead: $85K–$95K

Schedule: Full-time, 5 days/week, including weekdays and weekends

Shifts: 4:00 AM–1:00 PM / 12:00 PM–9:00 PM

About the Role

A Japanese company is hiring full-time Pastry Chefs to join the opening team of a new café and bakery in Brooklyn.

You will create signature pastries, cakes, and baked goods—from recipe development and production to final presentation—helping shape the visual identity and quality of the brand.

The concept draws inspiration from Japanese food culture, fermentation, and health-conscious ingredients. Interest in Japanese food or culture is a plus, but Japanese language skills are not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and standardize recipes for pastries, cakes, and baked goods
• Prepare creams, mousses, ganache, and other pastry components
• Manage temperature and humidity for chocolate tempering, refrigeration, freezing, and fermentation
• Finish and decorate products using classic and modern pastry techniques
• Support seasonal and limited-edition menu development
• Maintain consistent standards for appearance, flavor, and freshness
• Assist with food cost control and waste reduction
• Follow sanitation, food safety, and allergen procedures

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of professional pastry experience preferred
• Strong skills in recipe development, temperature control, and plating
• Experience with French pastry techniques is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
• Creative, curious, and able to translate a concept into high-quality products
• Ability to work early-morning and/or afternoon shifts, including weekends
