A Japanese logistics company in wood dale is seeking a Licensed U.S. Customs Broker to join its team.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in customs brokerage who is looking to take ownership of import compliance while working closely with customers, government agencies, and internal operations teams.
Responsibilities
Classify imported goods in accordance with the HTSUS
Prepare and manage AES filings, protests, and other functions through the ACE Portal
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations
Communicate with CBP and other government agencies, including FDA and USDA
Oversee CTPAT procedures and TSA requirements
Provide customs compliance guidance to customers and internal teams
Review and maintain customs documentation and records
Train and mentor junior operations and import staff
Stay current on customs regulations and industry changes
Qualifications
Active U.S. Customs Broker License (Required)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or freight forwarding
Strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and country of origin rules
Experience with ACE Portal, CTPAT, TSA documentation, and customs software
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
