Safety Engineer (Industrial Construction)

Industry: Semiconductor / Industrial Plant Construction

Location: Project Site Based (Arizona)

Compensation: $100,000 – $140,000 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Safety Engineer to support industrial plant construction projects, including semiconductor and utility facility construction. This role will focus on identifying construction-related hazards, implementing effective risk controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and client-specific safety requirements throughout all phases of project execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting industrial construction projects involving mechanical systems, piping, electrical and instrumentation (E&I), equipment installation, and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Task Risk Assessments (TRA), and review construction method statements
  • Identify hazards associated with industrial construction activities including hot work, confined space entry, lifting and rigging, LOTO, electrical work, and work at height
  • Review construction methods, temporary works, and equipment layouts from a safety perspective
  • Support constructability and Design-for-Safety (DfS) reviews
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, client HSE requirements, permit-to-work systems, and project safety standards
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, records, and performance reports
  • Provide safety guidance and technical support to project teams, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Support site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety training
  • Assist during client audits, inspections, and HSE reviews

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field
  • 5+ years of safety engineering or HSE experience within industrial construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and risk assessment methodologies
  • Experience with Permit-to-Work systems, LOTO, confined space entry, hot work, and work-at-height controls
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSP, ASP, NEBOSH, or equivalent professional safety certification
  • Experience supporting EPC, semiconductor, utility, power, water treatment, or industrial construction projects
  • Experience supporting pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
  • Experience working with subcontractors on large construction projects
