A well-established Japanese chemical trading company is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to join its New York office. The company specializes in the import, export, and distribution of chemical products and serves a diverse customer base across North America.
Position Summary
The Sales Representative will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining and growing existing customer relationships, and supporting the overall sales process. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop new business opportunities and manage existing customer accounts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through regular communication.
- Identify customer needs and provide appropriate product and service solutions.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and prospects.
- Process customer orders and ensure accuracy of sales documentation.
- Coordinate customer requests, including product documentation, samples, and technical information.
- Address and resolve customer concerns, including quality issues and shipment delays.
- Collaborate with suppliers regarding product orders and customer requirements.
- Support supplier visits by coordinating meetings and travel arrangements.
- Prepare regular sales reports and updates for management.
Account Management & Administration
- Monitor customer accounts and assist with credit management activities.
- Prepare sales forecasts, activity reports, and budget-related information.
- Follow up on outstanding customer payments and support collection efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions.
Logistics Coordination
- Work closely with logistics and operations teams to provide necessary shipping and documentation support.
- Ensure smooth communication between customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects and assignments as directed by management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and team objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in B2B sales, account management, trading, or the chemical industry is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify business opportunities and drive sales growth.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
- Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.
