Position: Purchasing Coordinator – Japanese Bilingual

Employment: Temp to Direct Hire

Pay Range: 27-31/hour

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to support procurement activities within the Military Business Operations team. This position will assist with RFQs, purchase orders, claim notes, supplier follow-ups, and communication with clients in Japan and suppliers in the U.S.

Japanese/English bilingual skills are preferred, especially for business-level reading and writing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter RFQs, purchase orders, and claim notes into the internal system.
  • Issue RFQs, purchase orders, and claim notes to U.S. manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding open RFQs, purchase orders, claims, and other procurement matters.
  • Expedite and negotiate with suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain business relationships with clients in Japan and U.S. manufacturers/suppliers.
  • Attend teleconferences with clients in Japan and the U.S. as needed.
  • Support the supervisor and department team with additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College-level education preferred.
  • 3–4 years of experience in international business, trading operations, purchasing, or procurement preferred.
  • Experience working for a Japanese company is preferred.
  • Experience in the military or aerospace industry is a plus.
  • Japanese/English bilingual skills preferred, especially business-level reading and writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and handle routine procurement tasks in a timely manner.
