About the Role
We are seeking a results-driven Sales Director to lead and transform our U.S. commercial operations within the printing and industrial consumables sector. This high-impact leadership role oversees a multi-entity sales organization, including both direct sales teams and a nationwide distributor network.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in accelerating growth, expanding market share, and building a high-performance sales culture within a business that offers strong product reputation and significant upside potential.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Drive 5–10% annual revenue growth while maintaining profitability
- Identify and prioritize target market segments (e.g., large-scale printing companies)
- Partner with global stakeholders to align U.S. strategy with broader business objectives
- Assess organizational capabilities and address gaps to support growth
Direct Sales Leadership
- Lead, develop, and manage a team of 5+ sales professionals across multiple regions
- Establish and track KPIs (pipeline activity, customer visits, win rates, etc.)
- Develop and execute strategic account plans
- Engage directly with key customers through in-person meetings
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and accountability
Distributor Network Management
- Oversee a nationwide distributor network, including territory planning and performance management
- Set and monitor weekly and monthly sales targets
- Recruit, onboard, and develop new distribution partners as needed
- Manage channel conflicts and optimize go-to-market coverage
Organization Building
- Strengthen the sales organization through talent development and strategic hiring
- Foster a data-driven, performance-oriented sales culture
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of sales experience in manufacturing or distribution, preferably in pressroom consumables or related fields
- Proven experience selling consumable products within the printing industry
- Demonstrated leadership managing a national sales team (5+ members)
- Strong track record of building and leading KPI-driven direct sales organizations
- Experience working with large, national printing companies
- Hands-on experience managing distributor networks
- Excellent communication skills in English
Preferred Background
- Experience in UV ink sales within the U.S. market
- Experience working with or within Japanese organizations
- Background in trading companies, business planning, or consulting
- Senior-level leadership experience
