Japanese and English Interpreter / Office Administrator

Location: Niagara Region, ON

Work Arrangement: On-site (construction site / office environment)

Type: Full-Time, 3-month contract with potential for extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00-17:00

Pay: CA$27–32 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

The Japanese and English Interpreter / Office Administrator plays a key role in supporting daily administrative operations and facilitating communication between Japanese expatriates, local teams, and external vendors during a major project phase.

This position involves a combination of interpretation and general office administration. The successful candidate will work on-site and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth communication, efficient office operations, and a well-coordinated working environment.

This role will begin as a 3-month contract with strong potential for extension based on performance and business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation support between Japanese expatriates, contractors, and vendors, particularly for construction and production-related communication
  • Assist with general office administration including data entry, document preparation, filing, and call handling
  • Support office management functions such as ordering supplies, coordinating maintenance requests, and arranging business cards
  • Assist with visitor coordination including scheduling, hotel and transportation arrangements, and meeting room setup
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings and events, including catering and on-site arrangements
  • Support internal activities and employee engagement initiatives such as team events
  • Handle mail and courier arrangements, including pickups and deliveries
  • Maintain organized records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Japanese and English (both written and verbal) is required
  • Previous experience in interpretation/translation is an asset (construction or manufacturing industry experience preferred but not required)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across diverse teams and cultural environments
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work on-site in a construction environment and maintain safety awareness
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and adaptable mindset
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Minimum high school diploma required
