Staff Accountant (Japanese-English Bilingual)

Overview

A growing international organization is seeking a bilingual Staff Accountant to support its Accounting Department. This role focuses on day-to-day accounting operations, cash flow management, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The position requires close collaboration with global teams, including overseas headquarters, domestic branches, vendors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare customer invoices, vendor payments, and supporting documentation
  • Monitor receivables, assist with collections, and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management and audits
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions with international offices
  • Maintain organized accounting records and contribute to process improvements

Qualifications

  • Fluency in both Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking) is required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of accounting experience, capable of handling comprehensive accounting responsibilities, including AP/AR, closing and audit support. (Practical tax experience would be a significant plus.)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification or progress toward certification
  • Experience working in a Japanese business environment
