Accounting Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

- Temporary Period: Approximately 30 hours per week
- Upon Direct Hire: Full-time (40 hours per week) with comprehensive company benefits

Position Overview
A well-established international food manufacturing company is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join its Finance & Accounting team.
This position is responsible for reviewing sales orders and invoices, supporting accounts receivable activities, ensuring data accuracy, assisting with month-end closing, and providing general accounting support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys working collaboratively with multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities
- Review sales orders and sales invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Verify shipping documents, customer purchase orders, pricing information, and billing data.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Sales, and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Process and apply customer payments and cash receipts.
- Monitor accounts receivable activity and customer deductions.
- Assist with bank account maintenance and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare AR-related reports and maintain customer master records.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist with general ledger and other accounting functions.
- Support external audits and accounting projects as assigned.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate financial records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience.
- CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing, consumer goods, or distribution industries.
- Experience with accounts receivable, billing, cash application, and month-end close.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to streamline accounting processes.
