Accounting Associate

Location: Bethesda, MD

Salary: 60-70K (Exempt)

Hiring Schedule: August 3, 2026

Work Arrangement: Onsite during onboarding; hybrid (3 days onsite) after training.


Position Summary

A global Japanese pharmaceutical company is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support accounting operations and provide administrative support to the Marketing team within a growing life sciences organization.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting (Approximately 80%)

·      Process Accounts Payable (AP), including invoice verification, payment processing, and vendor communications.

·      Manage Accounts Receivable (AR), monitor outstanding balances, and follow up on customer payments.

·      Assist with monthly closing activities, including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.

·      Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.

·      Maintain the general ledger and accounting records.

·      Support inventory accounting and inventory reconciliations.

·      Serve as the primary contact with the external accounting firm.

·      Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules.

·      Maintain accounting documentation and support audits.

·      Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

·      Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.


Marketing Administrative Support (Approximately 20%)

·      Provide administrative support to the Marketing team.

·      Coordinate meetings, schedules, and internal communications.

·      Prepare presentations, reports, and marketing documents.

·      Maintain electronic files and departmental records.

·      Coordinate with vendors and internal departments.

·      Assist with travel arrangements and expense reports.

·      Support trade shows, events, and promotional activities.

·      Perform general administrative duties as assigned.


Qualifications

·      Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

·      3–4 years of Accounting Associate or related accounting experience.

·      Experience supporting month-end closing (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow).

·      Experience with AP, AR, inventory accounting, and general accounting operations.

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

·      Experience with accounting software or ERP systems preferred.
