Field Service Engineer Semiconductor Equipment

Location:San Jose, CA

Salary:$29.20 $43.73/hour


Position Summary

A global semiconductor equipment company is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support advanced vacuum and thin-film deposition equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing.

In this role, you will work directly with customers in cleanroom environments to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair semiconductor process equipment. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on technical experience who enjoys solving problems, working with advanced technology, and supporting customers in the field.

Candidates with semiconductor equipment, vacuum systems, maintenance, robotics, or manufacturing equipment experience are encouraged to apply.

 

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, inspect, and calibrate semiconductor equipment at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and perform repairs
  • Support equipment installations and system upgrades
  • Prepare service reports and maintenance documentation
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend replacement parts when needed
  • Work closely with customers and internal engineering teams
  • Communicate technical issues with headquarters and support teams
  • Provide technical support and assistance to other technicians
  • Participate in customer support activities including on-call support when necessary

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, manufacturing equipment, vacuum systems, or maintenance support
  • PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) equipment experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with robotics or multi-chamber systems is a plus
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting
  • Field Service Engineer or Technician experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of PLC or related software systems is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently after training
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • Japanese-English bilingual skills are a plus, but not required

 

Work Environment

  • Primarily work in cleanroom environments
  • Cleanroom suit, facemask, gloves, and safety glasses required
  • Position requires standing, walking, lifting equipment, and occasional ladder/stair climbing
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Domestic travel up to approximately 25%; occasional international travel for training may be required
  • Flexible work schedule may occasionally be needed
