Sales Engineer / Business Development (Manufacturing)

Location: Irvine, CA

Salary: $65,000 – $90,000 base +Bonus

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (On-site)

Travel: Occasional domestic travel (3–4 times per year), including industry trade shows

An international manufacturing company specializing in precision metal components and advanced casting technologies is seeking a Sales Engineer / Business Development professional to join its U.S. team. The U.S. office focuses on engineering support, prototyping, and customer engagement while working closely with global engineering and production teams to deliver customized manufacturing solutions.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical understanding with business development, supporting customer projects from concept to production.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales and business development activities to identify and secure new customer opportunities
  • Build and expand customer relationships using CRM tools and proactive outreach
  • Communicate with customers to understand project requirements, component specifications, and manufacturing needs
  • Review 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings to support accurate project proposals
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, including international technical teams, to clarify project requirements and feasibility
  • Coordinate with production sites to launch new projects, including tooling and mold development
  • Support prototyping activities such as Investment Casting and Metal Injection Molding (MIM) to validate project concepts
  • Utilize basic measurement tools and interpret GD&T to understand component quality and manufacturing requirements
  • Manage projects and maintain communication between customers, engineering teams, and production partners

 

Qualifications

  • Interest in engineering, manufacturing, or STEM-related fields
  • Experience in manufacturing, technical sales, engineering, or related industries is preferred
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them effectively to customers
  • Strong problem-solving and project coordination skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic Excel functions
  • English required; conversational Japanese preferred for communication with international engineering teams
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
