Role: Quality Inspector

Location: Boise, Idaho (On-Site at Customer Site)

Salary: $70,000 – $80,000

Workstyle: Full-Time, On-Site | Travel up to 10%

Position Overview

The Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring the quality and integrity of fabricated water treatment systems and components. This position focuses on inspecting welded assemblies, vessels, and piping systems to ensure they meet strict industry standards and project specifications. Working directly at a customer site, the inspector collaborates with engineering, fabrication, and quality teams to maintain high standards while supporting project timelines. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and customer quality personnel.


Key Responsibilities

Weld & Fabrication Inspection

  • Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with applicable standards and project specifications.
  • Review welding documentation including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Test Records (WQTR).
  • Inspect fabricated vessels, skidded systems, and internal vessel components.
  • Perform in-house inspections of fabricated parts and assemblies.

Piping & High-Purity Systems

  • Inspect PVDF and PP piping welds used in high-purity semiconductor applications.
  • Inspect PVC piping, bonded assemblies, and internal vessel PVC components.
  • Verify proper installation of internal vessel components and assemblies.

On-Site Equipment Inspection

  • Perform inspections when equipment arrives at the site after shipment and after placement by contractors.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports including photos and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, weld activities, and fabrication processes.
  • Ensure documentation meets regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with customer-site quality personnel to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Provide guidance to welders and fabrication personnel to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and project teams to align inspection activities with project schedules.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or quality inspection environments.
  • Experience inspecting PVDF or PP piping welds for high-purity or semiconductor applications.
  • Experience with PVC piping and bonded assemblies.
  • Familiarity with vessel fabrication, skidded systems, and internal component installation.
  • Experience performing on-site inspections of MEP systems.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of WPS, WQTR, and PQR documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and fabrication prints.
  • Proficiency with mechanical measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Comfortable using MS Office applications such as Excel and Teams.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Solid understanding of ASME B31.3 and familiarity with ASTM, ASME, AWS D1.1, and NACE standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently at a customer site while maintaining clear communication.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to provide constructive feedback to fabrication teams.
