Position Summary

The Business Development Specialist supports the organization’s growth by developing and executing marketing and sales initiatives aimed at expanding corporate client relationships. This role collaborates with business development and sales teams to generate leads, prepare proposals and presentations, and support client acquisition efforts. The position requires strong relationship management skills and experience working with Japanese corporate clients.




Key Responsibilities

  • Track business development performance and analyze market trends to support sales strategy.
  • Assist with preparing contracts and agreements with prospective and existing business clients.
  • Develop reports and presentation materials for leadership regarding operational progress and sales initiatives.
  • Coordinate creation and distribution of marketing and promotional materials.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and prospecting strategies.
  • Support the sales team with quality assurance processes and coordination between sales and account servicing teams.
  • Participate in prospect meetings to assess current insurance programs and future coverage needs.
  • Execute structured sales processes including prospecting, planning, and closing new business opportunities.
  • Conduct outreach to targeted prospects and referral sources to generate new leads.
  • Assist with cross-selling and retention strategies for existing clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospects, sales activities, and client interactions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and industry partners.
  • Support internal collaboration across sales, employee benefits, and property & casualty teams.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of sales, marketing, or business development experience.
  • Experience marketing or selling business services to Japanese corporate clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to obtain Property & Casualty and Life & Health Insurance licenses within 6 months of hire (first license within 3 months).
  • Willingness to travel and attend offsite client meetings when required.

Preferred

  • Experience within insurance, financial services, or corporate risk management industries.
  • Experience with consultative sales or business development in professional services environments.
  • Japanese language ability (expert level).
