Position Summary

The Account Manager / Sales Manager is responsible for outside and inside sales activities and supports customer service operations to achieve sales targets and business growth. This role develops sales strategies, manages client relationships, identifies new business opportunities, and coordinates sales activities with internal teams.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Management

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans aligned with business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends to determine customer needs, pricing strategies, and discount structures.
  • Identify prospective customers through industry sources, trade shows, business directories, and online research.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities and establish performance goals.
  • Meet with key clients to maintain relationships and assist with negotiations and closing deals.
  • Prepare periodic reports outlining sales volume, potential growth, and target markets.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry trends.
  • Evaluate customer viability and identify opportunities for new business.
  • Coordinate collection activities related to delinquent accounts and maintain reporting updates.
  • Investigate and assist with resolving customer issues.
  • Coordinate sales activities with the sales team and management.

Management & Supervision

  • Oversee assigned departmental or regional activities and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Monitor business plans, timelines, and performance goals.
  • Motivate, develop, and mentor employees as needed to improve performance.
  • Present departmental updates and recommendations to senior management.
  • Prepare monthly sales and past-due account reports.

Other Duties

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain professional standards and ethical practices in the workplace.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external contacts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4–5 years of experience in sales, account management, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Valid driver’s license and personal automobile for customer visits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.

Preferred

  • Japanese language ability (expert).
  • Experience in B2B sales, account management, or distribution environments.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience.

Other Details

  • Supervises professional and administrative staff when required.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with moderate noise.
  • Travel is required approximately 50–60% by car or plane.
  • Position may occasionally require lifting up to 25 lbs and extended computer use.
