Reports To: Production Manager / Injection Molding Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $20-25/hour (negotiable)

Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed (1st Shift 7 AM-3 PM, 2nd Shift 3 PM-11 PM)

Must be able to be on call for weekend emergencies


Position Summary

Ensure molds are properly installed, maintained, and overhauled to support high-quality injection molding production according to the production schedule.


Required Skills & Experience

• 2–4 years of experience in injection molding, mold maintenance, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting (preferably in automotive manufacturing)

• Disassemble, clean, grease, and reassemble molds correctly

• Crane operation for moving molds or components

• Install molds, connect water/oil lines, and perform hot-runner connections

• Maintain tooling records and complete necessary check sheets

• Analyze mold-related causes of defective parts

• Assist in planning and executing mold overhauls according to production schedule

• Basic understanding of molding machine components and common molding defects

• Professional degree in Injection Molding (preferred)


Quality Responsibility

• Follow the company’s Quality Management System (IATF16949)

• Identify and implement solutions to mold-related defects

• Report mold defects to QC in a timely manner

• Ensure all issues are resolved before resuming production

• Ensure "Red Ticket" issues are resolved before restarting the machine


Mold Maintenance Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform preventive and corrective mold maintenance based on production needs 

• Coordinate with production to minimize downtime during mold changeovers and overhauls

• Troubleshoot machinery and maintenance issues, identify root causes

• Maintain clean, organized work areas (5S) 

• Document maintenance activities accurately 

• Follow machine/mold – specific work instructions

• Complete assigned tasks on time

• Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Demand / Work Environment

• Wear full PPE in work areas

• Use hands for small part handling and gripping

• Work closely with co-workers in a cooperative manner.

• Noise level ranges from moderate to high.
