Reports To: Production Manager / Injection Molding Production Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $20-25/hour (negotiable)

Must be able to work all shifts as needed (1st Shift 7 AM-3 PM, 2nd Shift 3 PM-11 PM, 3rd Shift 11 PM-7 AM)


Objective

The Production Technician is responsible for ensuring that injection molding and automation processes are optimized for high-quality production, while supporting troubleshooting, process improvement, and training initiatives. This role manages multiple machines, supports automation systems, and contributes to continuous improvement projects to increase yield, reduce waste, and enhance safety.


Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in injection molding, robotics operation and troubleshooting, and mold temperature controller operations in automotive manufacturing.

• Strong understanding of injection molding terminology, machine components, and common defects.

• Knowledge of hot runner systems and auxiliary equipment (mold controllers, material dryers, robots).

• Ability to analyze process issues and recommend corrective actions.

• Capable of assisting with mold changeovers and supporting process optimization initiatives.

• Skilled in documentation, including process records and quality reports.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Professional degree in Injection Molding or related field preferred.


Quality Responsibilities

• Understand and follow the Quality Management System, including IATF16949 requirements.

• Assist in identifying and resolving molding defects.

• Support opportunities for quality improvement initiatives.

• Ensure defects are reported and corrective actions completed before restarting production.

• Support quality audits and continuous improvement activities.


Production Responsibilities

• Operate and manage multiple injection molding machines and automation systems.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues and assist in implementing solutions.

• Support improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and quality.

• Load material correctly, maintain accurate records, and manage terminal scrap.

• Assist in training Junior Technicians on machine operation, robot programming, and process standards.

• Perform Red Rabbit procedures and ensure proper startup of all assigned machines.

• Complete tasks efficiently while adhering to production schedules and safety standards.

• Performs other related duties as required.
