Position Summary
The Amusement Planning Manager is responsible for leading the planning, procurement, inventory management, and vendor strategy for the Amusement Department. This role oversees arcade product selection, supplier negotiations (including overseas vendors), cost control, revenue optimization, and cross-functional coordination with Operations and Accounting. The Manager will supervise planning staff, drive data-based decision making, and ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Japanese-English bilingual proficiency is required to support international vendors and corporate communication.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Procurement
- Lead planning and forecasting of arcade machines, equipment, and promotional items
- Develop annual procurement plans aligned with revenue and expansion goals
- Identify market trends and recommend new amusement concepts and revenue opportunities
- Source potential suppliers and evaluate vendor capabilities
- Solicit bids, review proposals, and lead contract negotiations (domestic and international)
- Manage awarded contracts and ensure proper administration of purchase orders
- Oversee overseas transactions and logistics coordination
Financial & Data Management
- Analyze sales and transaction data to maximize revenue and profitability
- Monitor gameplay settings, pricing strategy, and TAX settings on POS and kiosk systems
- Oversee COGS control in partnership with Operations
- Review invoices and ensure accuracy before submission to Accounting
- Investigate discrepancies and potential fraudulent data
Operations & Store Support
- Ensure timely delivery and proper installation of arcade machinery and promotional items
- Confirm product condition and compliance with company standards
- Support attractive game floor layouts, crane displays, and redemption displays
- Collaborate with Operations to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Supervise and mentor planning staff
- Provide clear direction aligned with department goals and company objectives
- Collaborate with senior leadership on promotions and advertising initiatives
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and strategic partnerships
- Drive continuous process improvement within the department
Compliance, Safety & Loss Prevention
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Enforce company policies related to safety, security, and loss prevention
- Protect confidential information and uphold internal control standards
- Support employee safety initiatives and risk mitigation programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Hospitality, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in amusement, entertainment, retail, or hospitality industry
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong experience in procurement, vendor negotiation, and inventory management
- Experience handling overseas suppliers (Japan experience strongly preferred)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to calculate discounts, percentages, margins, taxation, and financial projections
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reporting, forecasting)
- Familiarity with POS systems and revenue tracking tools
- Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English (business level or higher)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
