Salary: $100,000 – $116,000 annually
Position Summary
Our client, a Japanese company is looking for a Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic partner to Executive Leadership and leads the overall HR function at headquarters while overseeing HR processes across multiple U.S. jurisdictions. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, drives HR strategy, and strengthens organizational effectiveness through workforce planning, talent management, and HR analytics. The position requires strong executive judgment, risk anticipation, and the ability to lead HR initiatives during periods of growth and change.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives and organizational priorities.
- Advise executive leadership on workforce planning, change management, HR trends, and risk mitigation.
- Lead and mentor internal HR staff and external HR partners to ensure scalable and efficient HR operations.
- Drive culture initiatives, organizational development, and continuous improvement efforts.
Compliance & Policy Management
- Oversee development and updates of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook in accordance with federal, multi-state, and local laws.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, leave regulations, anti-discrimination laws, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Coordinate with legal counsel, payroll providers, and external advisors on compliance matters and risk management.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management
- Lead recruitment strategy, salary benchmarking, and job classification reviews.
- Oversee onboarding, performance management, development planning, and retention initiatives.
- Manage offboarding processes, exit interviews, and turnover analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Provide guidance on employee relations issues, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with organizational values and DE&I practices.
Total Rewards & HR Operations
- Oversee compensation, benefits administration, leave management, and vendor partnerships.
- Manage HR operations including HRIS systems, reporting, personnel records, onboarding/offboarding workflows.
- Utilize HR data and analytics to track compliance, turnover, engagement, and HR performance metrics.
- Lead and support evolving HR initiatives in alignment with organizational growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Preferred: SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar HR certification.
- 10–12+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership experience overseeing multi-state and/or multi-site operations.
- Strong knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local employment laws.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling HR systems and infrastructure in dynamic environments.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and HR analytics.
- Strong leadership, communication, discretion, and organizational skills.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
