Job Profile

The Team Member Relations Specialist, Bilingual Japanese supports Team Member Relations while serving as the primary liaison for Japanese Advisors (Expatriates) and Business Travelers at the company. This role helps create a positive work environment, strengthen communication, and ensure Japanese Advisors receive the guidance and support needed to transition successfully into work and daily life in the United States.

This position will partner with other departments and leadership, external vendors, and the company's global leadership to coordinate onboarding, relocation, cultural integration, and ongoing support for Japanese Advisors. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal skills, discretion, cultural awareness, and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.


Main Duties / Responsibilities

Team Member Relations

  • Build strong relationships with team members and leadership to promote trust, engagement, and open communication.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for HR policy and workplace concerns.
  • Spend time on the production floor identifying team member needs and morale risks.
  • Conduct surveys, analyze feedback, and recommend countermeasures to improve retention and engagement.
  • Support recognition programs, exit survey processes, and turnover reporting.
  • Lead investigations, administer corrective actions, and ensure proper documentation. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company employment requirements.
  • Support leave programs including FMLA, disability, and return to work processes. Maintain HRIS records and manage HR communication channels.
  • Coordinate meetings, engagement events, and onboarding activities.

Japanese Advisor Support and Liaison

  • Coordinate onboarding preparation including badge access, IT setup, hotel and vehicle arrangements, and internal system notifications.
  • Contact Japanese Advisors prior to arrival and provide transition guidance and expectations. Facilitate orientation covering safety, cultural adaptation, driving guidance, policies, and workplace expectations.
  • Assist with immigration, USCIS, SSN, residential registration, and related documentation. Support housing search, tours, lease negotiation, application assistance, and utility setup.
  • Provide ongoing daily life support including transportation, medical visits, emergencies, and accident coordination.
  • Serve as interpreter and translator for HR, Safety, IT, leadership, schools, insurance providers, and external agencies.
  • Coordinate relocation vendors, moving logistics, and return transition activities. Assist with tax outsourcing, insurance coordination, and administrative processes.
  • Maintain communication with global HR, headquarters, and external partners regarding JA matters. Share local updates, safety information, and community resources with Japanese Advisors and families.

Required Qualification / Education

  • Business or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Three to five years of Human Resources or employee relations experience. Fluent bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English, written and verbal.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, investigations, and HR best practices. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive situations with discretion. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Ability to work within a cross-cultural manufacturing environment. Ability to work overtime or support urgent needs when required.

Working / Physical Conditions

  • Office Environment: Primarily based in an office setting with regular use of computer systems.
  • Able to handle occasional after-hours and weekend support duties as part of the 24/7 support commitment.
  • Travel Requirements: Reasonable business travel may be necessary to meet project requirements and collaborate with regional partners.
  • Driving Requirement: This role may require driving to appointments and work-related locations using a company-provided vehicle. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 30 pounds as needed.
