Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to oversee daily plant operations at our food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for managing production activities, supervising staff, coordinating cross-functional operations, and ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality production output.
The Production Supervisor will report directly to the Plant Manager and play a key leadership role in maintaining operational excellence across multiple areas of plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations Management
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
- Monitor workflow, production schedules, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
- Review and manage work orders, production reports, and operational metrics.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (FDA, HACCP, GMP) and company policies.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise production staff across multiple shifts.
- Manage shift scheduling and workforce planning.
- Lead team meetings and provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Support employee training and skill development initiatives.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and supplies.
- Coordinate with Warehouse and Logistics teams for inventory flow and shipping schedules.
- Work closely with Maintenance to support equipment upkeep and minimize downtime.
- Assist in resolving production-related issues through cross-department communication.
Inventory & Order Management
- Review inventory levels and ensure proper stock control.
- Monitor incoming materials and finished goods.
- Oversee order processing accuracy and review purchase and sales orders related to production.
- Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Maintenance & Facility Support
- Support preventative maintenance programs in coordination with the maintenance team.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Ensure production areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety standards and procedures.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure proper use of equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to approximately 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occasional coordination with warehouse operations in storage areas.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in food production.
- Strong knowledge of production workflows and plant operations.
- Experience with inventory management and order review processes.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP preferred).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Bilingual in English and Japanese and/or Spanish (preferred but not required).
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Japanese food manufacturing or related industry.
- ERP system experience.
- Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing knowledge.
