Sales & Customer Service Manager

Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 annually (DOE)

Hours: Monday–Friday (On-site; travel as needed)

Position Summary

Responsible for leading sales and customer service operations to achieve revenue targets, expand market share, and ensure high levels of client satisfaction. Oversees departmental strategy, sales performance, key account management, and operational coordination within a freight forwarding environment.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned with revenue objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing structures, and customer requirements.
  • Direct sales forecasting, territory assignments, and performance metrics.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities; evaluate customer viability.
  • Meet with key clients to maintain relationships, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and trade functions.
  • Monitor competitor activities and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Oversee collection activities for delinquent accounts.

Customer Service & Operations Oversight

  • Supervise cargo shipment arrangements for key accounts.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues and service challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and service standards.

Management & Reporting

  • Supervise and mentor professional and administrative staff (exempt and non-exempt).
  • Monitor departmental performance against business plans and KPIs.
  • Prepare monthly sales, forecasting, and past-due account reports.
  • Manage departmental budget and control expenditures.
  • Present strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of sales experience within the freight forwarding industry.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of international logistics, export processes, and supply chain operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and general business systems.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.

Preferred:

  • Japanese language ability (professional proficiency).

Other Details

  • Office-based environment with moderate noise level.
  • Frequent travel by car and air required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
