Compensation: $65,000–$72,000 annually
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch) / 35 hours per week

Services include air, ocean, rail, and drayage coordination, with global carrier partnerships and overseas affiliates. The organization operates in a small, professional office environment supporting international logistics operations, including collaboration with a Japan-based parent company.
Position Summary
The Supervisor, Freight Forwarding oversees daily international freight forwarding operations, managing import/export shipments and leading a small team of specialists. This role ensures operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and cost efficiency while serving as a key liaison for international coordination. Japanese language ability is preferred to support communication with overseas stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support end-to-end international freight forwarding operations (air, ocean, rail, drayage).
- Manage and mentor 1–2 Senior Specialists (hybrid staff).
- Oversee export shipment processes and ensure compliance with global trade regulations (including FMC).
- Review and approve freight rates; monitor cost control and profit margins.
- Audit shipment documentation and data entry for accuracy.
- Resolve escalated logistics and service issues.
- Maintain relationships with carriers, vendors, and overseas agents.
- Review billing, prepare invoices as needed, and process vendor payments.
- Develop and maintain SOPs; ensure cross-training and operational coverage.
- Conduct performance reviews and support team development.
- Utilize Cargowise for shipment management and reporting.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of freight forwarding experience, including international export experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- 2+ years of Cargowise experience.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping documentation and global trade regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English proficiently.
Preferred:
- Japanese language ability (professional proficiency) to support coordination with Japan-based stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite (aligned with direct report schedule).
