Michigan and Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh area) – Home-based field service position

Compensation$25.00 – $40.00 per hour (DOE)

Position Overview

A Japanese manufacturer of precision machine tools is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support installation, maintenance, and repair of EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) equipment. This role requires hands-on experience in machining environments and the ability to independently troubleshoot CNC-controlled machinery at customer sites.

This is not an entry-level opportunity. We are seeking a technically capable professional who can contribute immediately with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair EDM machine tools at customer facilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using appropriate test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes

Identify and resolve CNC control and machine performance issues

Support commissioning and production startup activities

Provide on-site customer support and basic operational training

Communicate technical findings clearly with customers and internal teams

Travel to customer locations as required


Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent hands-on experience

Practical experience in a machining or machine shop environment required

CNC machine experience required

Experience working with machine tools (machining centers, milling machines, EDM, etc.) strongly preferred

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills

Ability to work independently at customer sites

Professional communication skills and customer-facing experience


Preferred

Experience servicing or operating EDM equipment

Background in machine tool field service

Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems


Work Schedule

Standard business hours with overtime and occasional weekend work as needed

Travel required
