Location: Torrance, CA
Employment Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM start (8-hour shift). Flexible end time between 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM depending on lunch break (30–60 minutes).
Overview
A global logistics company is seeking a Freight Forwarding Clerk to support import and export operations. This position is responsible for coordinating international shipments and ensuring smooth transportation processes based on customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Import / Export & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate international shipments and determine the most efficient transportation route
- Arrange packaging and shipping methods based on cargo type, weight, cost, and delivery requirements
- Prepare and review shipping documents required for transportation and insurance purposes
- Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure timely delivery and smooth transportation processes
- Track shipment status using internal systems and provide updates as needed
- Arrange payment of freight charges and other related fees
- Provide accurate shipment details to customs brokers for timely customs clearance
Quotation & Billing Support
- Prepare quotations based on customer requests
- Negotiate with subcontractors and vendors to maintain competitive pricing and profitability
- Issue invoices to customers based on agreed quotations
Customer Support & Process Improvement
- Respond to customer inquiries and support issue resolution in a timely manner
- Assist with claims and troubleshooting, escalating complex issues when necessary
- Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce costs
Other Duties
- Maintain organized shipment records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1+ year of related work experience preferred
- Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, import/export, or supply chain operations is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Windows environment)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Office-based position
- Occasional local or domestic travel may be required (rare)
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
