Position Overview
The General Manager of Logistics is responsible for leading warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring efficient execution across facilities and strong alignment with company objectives. This role oversees 3PL partnerships, warehouse management, transportation coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives, including support of warehouse automation and process optimization.
This position is ideal for a hands-on operations leader who understands warehouse processes, thrives in fast-paced environments, and can drive performance through people, systems, and structured execution.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations to ensure safety, quality, and service performance.
- Provide leadership and direction to supervisors and warehouse teams.
- Monitor and improve KPIs including productivity, inventory accuracy, on-time shipment, and cost efficiency.
- Support operational consistency across multiple facilities (basic multi-site oversight as applicable).
3PL & Warehouse Management
- Manage third-party logistics (3PL) relationships and performance expectations.
- Oversee receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping operations.
- Ensure proper warehouse documentation and operational record accuracy.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively.
Transportation & Process Improvement
- Oversee transportation coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Support warehouse automation initiatives and system enhancements.
Systems & Reporting
- Utilize WMS platforms to manage inventory and operational flow.
- Develop and maintain operational reports using MS Office Suite (Excel-heavy environment).
- Ensure accurate data tracking and performance reporting.
People & Safety
- Promote and maintain a safety-first culture.
- Coach, develop, and evaluate team members.
- Support workforce planning, training, and performance management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or operations leadership.
- Experience in automotive and/or aerospace environments preferred (process-driven industries strongly valued).
- Basic multi-site experience preferred.
- Strong background in 3PL and warehouse management.
- Experience with WMS systems required.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions
- Onsite role in warehouse and office environments.
- Exposure to warehouse equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional travel as needed to support operations.
