Overview
Our client company is a well-established U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese manufacturing company, operating for nearly 30 years in the fuel engine components industry. While the organization is small, the business is stable and supported by manufacturing facilities outside the United States.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats in a lean organization and is interested in gaining broad exposure to sales, operations, and overall business management. You will work closely with headquarters in Japan and gradually assume responsibilities from the current General Manager through a structured transition, with continued support after the handover.
Location: Southern Orange County, CA
Work Style: On-Site (no remote, no hybrid)
Work Hours: M-F 8:30-17:00
Salary Range: $90,000 – 110,000/year (exempt)
Key Responsibilities
Business & Customer Management
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers
- Support new business development initiatives
- Coordinate order processing and sales-related information with headquarters in Japan
Operations & Office Management
- Oversee daily operations of a small office and warehouse
- Manage priorities and workflows in a hands-on manner
- Serve as the local point of contact for day-to-day business decisions
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare monthly financial and operational reports using QuickBooks
- Coordinate budgeting and reporting with headquarters in Japan
- Work with an external accounting firm for annual tax filings
Required Qualifications
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Ability to work on-site
- Comfortable working independently in a small, lean organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (from Japan or the U.S.)
- Experience in sales, operations, or general business management
- Basic accounting knowledge (QuickBooks experience is a plus, but not required)
- Experience working with Japanese companies or Japan-based headquarters
- Prior General Manager experience is not required
Travel
- Occasional domestic travel within the U.S. (1–2 times per year, approximately one week per trip)
