Freight Forwarder – Import Operations

Employment Type: Full-time / Non-Exempt

Industry: Logistics

Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (overtime, weekend work may be required; compensatory time off available)

Wage: $19–22 per hour

Benefit: Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) after 90 days, company-covered for up to 4 family members; 401(k) eligibility after 1 year with 3% company match

Key Responsibilities

• Review shipping documents and submit to Customs Broker
• Monitor clearance status with CBP/OGA (FDA, USDA, FWS), follow up directly if needed
• Notify customers of delays or holds, and coordinate delivery/pickup schedules
• Verify and recondition cargo as necessary (re-icing, re-packing, minor repairs)
• Manage warehouse, cooler, and freezer inventory
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and overseas/domestic agents
• Handle billing, invoices, and file closing in accordance with fee schedules
• Provide quotations and maintain competitive rates
• Stay updated on import/export regulations and TSA compliance

Qualifications

• General knowledge of logistics and import/export regulations
• Strong learning attitude, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
• Effective time management and multitasking abilities
• Basic arithmetic skills for conversions and rate calculations
• Strong communication skills in English; Japanese bilingual ability is required
• Flexibility and proactive mindset
