Role: HR General Manager – Logistics & Transportation

Location: Knoxville, TN

Salary: $120,000–$150,000

Position Overview

This onsite HR General Manager role leads HR Operations across a growing, multi-site logistics and transportation network. Supporting warehouse and driver populations across multiple states, this position focuses on building strong HR programs, ensuring compliance, and partnering closely with operations leadership.

While the organization supports 400–800 employees across locations, candidates who have successfully led HR for small, multi site operations (approximately 100+ employees) and are ready to scale into broader multi-site leadership are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to lay operational groundwork, strengthen compliance structure, and elevate HR execution across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Multi-Site HR Operations

  • Lead HR support across multiple warehouse and transportation locations throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
  • Standardize policies, procedures, and HR programs to ensure consistency across sites.
  • Partner directly with operations leaders to support workforce planning and performance management.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Maintain strong compliance with labor laws, DOT regulations, and OSHA standards.
  • Oversee Workers’ Compensation and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Strengthen processes to support audit readiness and operational discipline.

Employee Relations & Leadership Support

  • Manage investigations, performance matters, and employee relations issues with sound judgment and documentation.
  • Coach site leadership on corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy application.
  • Promote a consistent and fair workplace environment.

HR Systems & Analytics

  • Utilize Power BI, Excel, and cloud-based HR systems to monitor trends and improve decision-making.
  • Leverage data and reporting tools to support workforce insights and operational improvements.
  • Familiarity with AI-supported tools and Access is a plus.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 8+ years of HR experience within logistics, transportation, warehousing, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting site-based operations with hourly workforces.
  • Multi-site experience preferred; candidates with strong single-site leadership experience (100+ employees) ready to expand scope are welcome.
  • Working knowledge of DOT-regulated driver environments and OSHA compliance strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Strong compliance orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Confident leadership presence with the ability to influence operations teams.

Travel

  • Approximately 50% weekday travel during year one (2–3 days at a time) across continental U.S. locations including NC, KY, IN, MI, CA, TN, SC, and GA.
  • Travel expected to reduce to approximately 30% after year one.
