Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to drive new business and expand existing customer relationships within the Illinois and Indiana markets. This is a hands-on sales leadership role focused on industrial machinery, machine tools, automation equipment, inspection systems, and related manufacturing solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong B2B business development skills with a consultative, technically oriented sales approach and is comfortable personally pursuing new opportunities while supporting sales personnel and distribution partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue, profit, and growth objectives.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, cold calling, customer visits, networking, trade shows, and referrals.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from opportunity identification and qualification through proposals, negotiations, closing, and follow-up.
  • Develop and expand relationships with customers, distributors, manufacturers, vendors, and other business partners.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide sales forecasts and activity reports.
  • Monitor customer needs, competitors, market conditions, and industry trends to identify new opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and support to sales personnel and distribution partners.
  • Represent the organization at customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and other business-development activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of successful B2B outside sales experience, preferably involving industrial machinery, machine tools, manufacturing equipment, or other technical products.
  • Proven success achieving sales targets and developing new business.
  • Experience managing customer, distributor, vendor, or other business relationships.
  • Sales leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with machine tools, CNC, industrial machinery, capital equipment, manufacturing equipment, or automation strongly preferred.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, closing, account-management, forecasting, and pipeline-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, potentially 50–75%, primarily throughout Illinois and Indiana.
