Company Overview

A manufacturing organization specializing in industrial metal products is seeking an experienced Operations and Facilities Manager to support plant operations, equipment reliability, maintenance, safety, and facility management.

Position Summary

The Operations and Facilities Manager works closely with senior operations leadership and oversees the Maintenance Department. This role is responsible for manufacturing equipment, facilities, preventive and predictive maintenance, plant improvements, regulatory compliance, and team leadership, with a strong focus on 5S, safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing equipment, facilities, and property management.
  • Lead plant maintenance strategy and minimize unplanned equipment downtime.
  • Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including planning and scheduling.
  • Track work orders, spare parts, maintenance history, supplies, and equipment inventories.
  • Lead and develop maintenance staff, including training, performance reviews, and work assignment oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures including lockout/tagout, startup/shutdown procedures, and confined-space requirements.
  • Monitor budgets, labor efficiency, material usage, engineering, safety, environmental, and delivery standards.
  • Lead plant improvements, shutdowns, equipment projects, and facility expansions.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, suppliers, and outside service providers.
  • Review and approve applicable purchase orders and invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable city, county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient plant environment.
  • Identify operational issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Several years of manufacturing management experience.
  • Experience leading maintenance, plant, or facilities operations.
  • Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance and manufacturing equipment management.
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements and implementation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, vendors, and contractors.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective computer skills.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Management, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in wire, steel, or similar industrial manufacturing environments.

Other Details

  • Directly oversees the Maintenance Department.
  • Work is performed throughout the manufacturing facility, including production, warehouse, storage, office, outdoor, confined-space, and elevated work areas.
  • Regular exposure to industrial noise, dust, fumes, odors, seasonal temperatures, and non-air-conditioned production areas.
  • Requires prolonged standing/walking, climbing stairs, bending, squatting, accessing confined spaces, and working at elevated locations.
  • Must be able to lift/pull up to 50 lbs. and distinguish colors.
  • Required PPE may include safety footwear, hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, and high-visibility clothing.
