Position Overview
The Plant Manager is responsible for overall factory performance, ensuring on-time delivery and product quality that meet customer expectations. This role oversees all plant operations, including safety, personnel management, equipment maintenance, and cost control, while driving continuous improvement across the organization.
The Plant Manager plays a key role in problem-solving at both the plant and company-wide levels and is expected to collaborate closely with management, customers, suppliers, and employees. Future involvement in senior management is anticipated.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure achievement of customer delivery deadlines and quality targets
- Oversee compliance with production, quality, safety, and 5S standards
- Lead plant-wide safety management and continuous 5S activities
- Manage and maintain all factory machinery and equipment, including inspection programs
- Supervise all plant personnel, including goal setting, performance monitoring, disciplinary actions, and annual reviews
- Manage factory operating budgets covering labor, maintenance, equipment, defects, and operational costs
- Drive ongoing cost-reduction initiatives against budget targets
- Build strong professional relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Participate in regular management meetings, provide operational updates, and contribute to financial reporting
- Support and coordinate visits and business travel from affiliated companies
- Travel as needed to strengthen external business relationships
- Prepare for and support future management-level responsibilities
Qualifications
- Must have Japanese at an idiomatic level. English at Business and above. (Visa sponsorship is considerable for the right candidates.)
- 4+ years of factory or plant management experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Willingness to travel
- Valid driver’s license
- Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as business needs evolve
