Vice President of Compliance

Location: Chicago, IL; Plano, TX; or Long Beach, CA (Hybrid 3 days in-office, 2 days at home)

Compensation: Approx. $150k/yr (DOE)

Hours: Full-time; 9:00am – 5:00pm, 1 hour for lunch; 35 hours per week

A U.S.-based logistics and transportation services company providing domestic and international supply chain solutions, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, and transportation services.


Position Summary

The Vice President of Compliance oversees corporate compliance functions, including international trade and customs compliance, business process management (BPM), and regulatory alignment with U.S. federal, state, and international requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Customs & Trade Compliance

  • Serve as the company’s licensed Customs Broker qualifier
  • Monitor and advise on international trade compliance
  • Communicate with U.S. Customs and respond to inquiries
  • Review and approve customers and vendors
  • Maintain FMC compliance, including tariff re-filing and training
  • Conduct internal customs audits and minimize ISF and entry errors
  • Ensure timely customs entries and duty payments
  • Acquire and maintain C-TPAT certification
  • Provide ongoing compliance training to prevent import/export violations
  • Evaluate and implement compliance tools, including AI for commodity classification

Business Process Management (BPM)

  • Maintain company policies, licenses, and compliance documentation
  • Review, update, and support implementation of SOPs
  • Automate manual operational processes

Corporate Compliance Officer

  • Develop and maintain the company compliance program
  • Ensure adherence to applicable U.S. and international regulations
  • Act as liaison with parent/group entities to align compliance standards

Qualifications

Required:

  • U.S. Customs Broker License
  • 10+ years of logistics or transportation experience
  • 10+ years of people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Import customs operations or international forwarding experience
  • Legal or regulatory affairs experience

Other Details

  • Up to 25% domestic travel required
  • Standard office environment
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.
