Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

A U.S.-based subsidiary of a Japan-headquartered automotive parts manufacturer (Tier 1 supplier) with production operations in the United States. The organization supports cross-border coordination, leadership communication, and business operations between U.S. and Japan-based teams.


Position Summary

This position provides English–Japanese translation, interpretation, and business support for executive leadership, with primary responsibility for assisting the President and expatriate staff. The role serves as a key liaison between Japanese headquarters, U.S. internal teams, and external customers. Success in this role requires strong cultural fluency in Japanese business practices in addition to language expertise. Technical or factory-specific knowledge is not required at the time of hire.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide English–Japanese and Japanese–English translation for meetings, emails, reports, and internal documentation
  • Provide interpretation support for expatriate staff on an as-needed basis
  • Support the President and management team with bilingual communication and coordination
  • Facilitate communication between Japanese headquarters, U.S. teams, and customers
  • Interpret business intent, tone, and cultural nuances to support effective collaboration
  • Support Sales & Purchasing activities, including:
    • Customer communication
    • Quotation preparation
    • General administrative and coordination support
  • Participate in client visits and provide interpretation support as business needs expand

Qualifications

Required:

  • Expert-level Japanese and English proficiency (spoken and written)
  • Strong understanding of Japanese work culture and corporate practices
  • Experience working with Japanese companies, expatriates, or Japanese management
  • Business-level English communication skills
  • Ability to convey intent and context beyond literal translation

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting executive leadership
  • Familiarity with corporate, sales, or purchasing functions
  • Experience acting as a liaison between Japanese and U.S. stakeholders

Other Details

  • Specialized industry, factory-floor, or technical terminology is not required at hire and can be learned on the job
  • Departmental focus will primarily support Sales & Purchasing functions
