Business: Trading (an importer, exporter, and distributor of steel products, ferrous and non-ferrous metal materials, alloy materials, fossil fuel, chemical elements, minerals, and fabricated parts.)
Reports to: Sales Manager of the Detroit Steel Division.
Language: Japanese and English
Travel: Once a week, day trip. 1-2 times overnight trip per month.
Job Summary:
The Sales Representative works for the Sales team by gaining sales, creating marketing activities, communicating with the Inside Sales team, and performing other functions as assigned.
Essential Functions:
1. Conducts marketing research, collection of market information such as steel suppliers, competitors, and potential customers.
2. Sales activities such as negotiation of orders in terms of price, allocation, and lead-time with a customer and a vendor.
3. Maintain and strengthen relationship with customers, vendors, and processors to achieve a sales budget.
4. Manage credit/inventory lines with new and existing customers and collecting AR timely basis.
5. Control of order-entry, outstanding orders, inventory, and delivery.
6. Coordinate logistics and processing for materials.
7. Manage quality issues among the customer, supplier, processor, and insurance company.
8. Seek and develop new business opportunities.
9. Communicate with the Sales and Inside Sales teams of each Division to ensure materials are delivered timely.
10. Weekly and monthly reports as required by management.
11. Performs other duties from time to time as assigned by the management of the department. Job duties may change at any time with or without notice.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, or related field is preferred.
2. At least 1 year of sales experience preferred.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required.
4. Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
5. Proficient knowledge of ERP systems preferred.
6. Japanese language (Business and above)
