$64,000 – $79,000 (Depending on Experience)

Higher salary may be considered for exceptional candidates

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and bilingual Accountant to support the financial operations of a company managing multiple group entities in the U.S. This position plays a key role in maintaining accounting accuracy, preparing financial reports, and contributing to system improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, culturally adaptable, and comfortable in a collaborative, non-competitive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain subsidiary accounting records and manage various accounting transactions
  2. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and internal reports
  3. Coordinate with external audit firms for quarterly and annual reviews
  4. Analyze operational and financial data; prepare variance reports comparing budget vs. actual
  5. Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and audit requirements
  6. Support preparation of tax-related documents and manage bank transactions
  7. Participate in the implementation of new accounting systems and process improvements

Qualifications:

  • 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • CPA certification not required (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Proficiency in both Japanese and English (business level) is required (reporting to Japan HQ)
  • Experience working in a Japanese company or with Japanese business culture is a plus
  • Flexible and open-minded personality that fits a traditional yet collaborative culture
  • Strong Excel and general systems skills

Reporting Line:

Reports to: Accounting Manager or Treasurer

Supervising: None

Office Environment:

  • Approx. 10 employees (mostly in sales and accounting)
  • Accounting department: 6–7 people
  • Oversees financial operations for 5 related entities
  • Quiet, cooperative work environment (non-competitive culture)
