Sales / Business Development – Non-Ferrous Metals

Location: Fort Lee, NJ

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

Work Style: Hybrid / Business Travel Required

Base Salary: Approximately $75,000 + Bonus

Department:

  • Metal Materials – Non-Ferrous

Position Summary:

  • Perform sales and purchasing activities for non-ferrous metals.
  • Handle import sales activities for aviation-related materials.
  • Work with non-ferrous materials including precious metal scrap, aluminum scrap, copper scrap, and other related products.

Essential Job Functions:

Sourcing:

  • Research and identify new suppliers.
  • Develop and propose new sourcing strategies to internal Metal Teams.
  • Communicate and negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing and contract terms.
  • Check product quality and condition by reviewing samples or visiting suppliers.

Business Development / Sales:

  • Maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Conduct sales promotions to existing and prospective customers.
  • Negotiate product sales with customers and prospective customers.
  • Develop sales contracts.
  • Communicate with Sales Assistants regarding executed sales activities.
  • Communicate with customers and other related parties to resolve product sales issues as needed.
  • Collect accounts receivable.
  • Manage customer credit lines.

Marketing / Sales Support:

  • Conduct market research, including competitor and supplier information.
  • Review and analyze information from end users to understand price ranges, needs, and specification requirements.
  • Plan and attend trade shows.
  • Assist Sales Assistants and other team members with sales and marketing activities as needed.
  • Review and approve documents, including contracts prepared by Sales Assistants.
  • Submit monthly or weekly sales reports to the supervisor.
  • Perform quantitative analysis, including price-term simulations.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Continuously seek improvements and more efficient and cost-effective work processes.
  • Perform special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in the workplace.
  • Report irregular issues and problems to management and assist in resolving them.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal staff and external contacts.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area.
  • Submit expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Industry experience is not required.
  • Approximately 3 years of professional work experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Strong negotiation, sales, marketing, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Dependable, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and high standards of business ethics and compliance.

Travel:

  • Frequent domestic and international travel is required.
