Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summary/Objective

The Senior Accountant responsibilities include preparing financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Essential Functions

Accounting and Finance

  1. Oversee daily operations of the Accounting Administrative team:
  • Performs general cost accounting and related duties.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and P&L statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes books monthly.
  • Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses bank inquiries.
  • Reconciles customer accounts and manages AR collections.
  • Verifies invoice payments and ensures correct account charging.
  • Supports external audit by preparing documents.
  • Files required tax forms with relevant agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  1. Enforces proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  2. Maintains fiscal files and records.
  3. Handles quarterly closing and reporting (includes consolidation and reporting to Parent).
  4. Supports preparation of tax return and filing (external support for federal/state income taxes, internal for others).
  5. Supports subsidiaries.

Administration Functions

  1. Supervise and perform administrative functions.
  2. Develop procedures and systems for new needs.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment

  • Regular sitting, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing, walking, handling, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level: moderate (office setting).
  • May require business travel and overtime.

Experience/Minimum Qualifications Needed

Language Skills

  • Effective communication in English with management, staff, clients, and the public.
  • Verbal and written communication in English and Japanese.

Mathematical Skills

  • Apply concepts of basic algebra/geometry; interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Skills

  • Execute detailed instructions (oral/written).
  • Analyze and interpret contracts, POs, etc.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and accounting software.
  • Able to design custom reports as needed.
