Position Overview

This Electrical Designer role focuses on designing electrical and control systems for custom equipment, translating process requirements into accurate, build-ready drawings. The position is primarily office-based, with regular interaction with the panel shop and occasional travel to support system start-ups and field troubleshooting. This is a hands-on design role ideal for someone who enjoys seeing their work move from drawings to fully functioning systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures
  • Develop electrical drawings from P&IDs and I/O lists
  • Create single-line diagrams, electrical architecture, and panel layout drawings
  • Review customer system specifications and support project documentation
  • Source and evaluate electrical components
  • Support panel shop operations as needed
  • Travel as required for troubleshooting, training, and start-up support
  • Collaborate with field service teams to provide electrical support
  • Manage work within project scope, schedules, and budgets
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience in electrical panel design
  • Panel production experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D exposure helpful)
  • Working knowledge of UL standards and NEC requirements
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate electrical documentation
  • Strong multitasking and project coordination skills
  • Associate degree in electrical or controls engineering preferred
  • MTR (Manufacturing Technical Representative) certification is a plus

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and work around industrial equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull for extended periods
  • Use upper extremities to move equipment with steady force
  • Occasional work in high-temperature environments (100°F+ for extended periods)
