An international energy company with a long-term commitment to natural gas, power, and energy infrastructure in the US is seeking a Director to lead midstream and downstream investment and business development activities.

This role offers a rare opportunity to combine hands-on deal execution, long-term asset ownership, and strategic influence, working closely with senior leadership to build a durable U.S. energy infrastructure portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate and lead investments by building strong relationships with private equity and infrastructure funds, developers, operators, advisors, and lenders.
  • Source and evaluate opportunities across gas midstream (pipelines, gathering & processing, storage, LDC-related assets) and downstream / power infrastructure (generation, distributed energy, energy services).
  • Drive transactions end-to-end, from initial screening and commercial assessment through financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, structuring, and execution.
  • Lead cross-functional diligence, coordinating internal teams and external advisors across commercial, financial, legal, regulatory, tax, and technical workstreams.
  • Support post-investment value creation, including performance monitoring, strategic initiatives, and active engagement with portfolio company management teams.
  • Participate in governance, including board or observer roles, serving as a key link between portfolio companies and senior leadership.
  • Contribute to investment strategy, working with senior management and headquarters to shape long-term mid- and downstream growth plans.

Requirements:

  • Approximately 8 years of experience in energy infrastructure investment or business development, with a focus on gas and/or power.
  • Prior experience at private equity funds, infrastructure funds, strategic investors, or energy-focused investment platforms.
  • Proven experience leading investment evaluation, due diligence, and transaction execution.
  • Strong financial and commercial skills, including valuation, project finance, and investment analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Business-level English proficiency.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of experience in energy infrastructure investment or business development, with a strong focus on gas and/or power sectors.
  • Direct investment experience in US gas midstream and/or power infrastructure assets.
  • Board or board observer experience at portfolio companies.
  • Experience working with cross-border stakeholders or global energy companies.
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or other advanced qualifications.
