Assistant Manager – Procurement

Job Summary

A company is seeking an Assistant Manager to support daily procurement operations, supplier sourcing, staff supervision, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support team performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and source suitable suppliers for merchandise purchases.
  • Support daily procurement operations and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist the Manager in improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and streamlining procedures.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of approximately three employees.
  • Monitor daily workloads, schedules, and priorities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Train, mentor, and support staff development and performance improvement.
  • Assist in implementing sales incentive programs and performance goals.
  • Support the team in achieving monthly sales targets.
  • Handle and resolve escalated customer complaints and operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Provide backup support for team members when needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience; 4 or more years preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Limited working proficiency in Japanese.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and manage daily priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively with team members.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to other employees.

Additional Information

  • Reports directly to the Manager.
  • Provides supervision, mentoring, and guidance to approximately three employees.
  • Does not have direct authority over hiring, termination, promotions, or compensation decisions.
  • Position is classified as Non-Exempt.
