About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically inclined Service Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and installation of machining centers. This is a dynamic position requiring both technical skills and office-based responsibilities.

You will work closely with a small team of local staff and Japanese expatriates, providing support in field operations, client communication, and reporting. Training will be provided, including a one-month program in Japan following initial OJT in the U.S.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service and maintenance of machining centers
  • Support equipment installation and commissioning
  • Replace and exchange old mechanical and electrical parts
  • Communicate with engineers and customers (via email and phone)
  • Prepare service reports and documentation
  • Travel for business both domestically and internationally (up to 3–4 trips per year, typically 1 week each)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in electronics with mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on machining experience
  • Familiarity with FANUC controls
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel by car
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and parts
  • Business travel experience (within U.S. and possibly to Japan, Mexico, Canada)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Physical fitness to handle onsite work and heavy components
  • Comfortable working in a flexible, small team environment

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in maintenance of industrial machinery
  • Understanding of Japanese culture or work environments
  • Previous experience as a machine operator or technician
